A Direct Repair Shop is a body shop that works directly with the insurance company and is known as a preferred shop. Shops become preferred shops by meeting certain requirements, such as having certified technicians, using the proper equipment, and maintaining a record of satisfied customers. With preferred shops, the repair process is faster since the estimates, parts orders, and repairs can be handled without waiting for approval from insurance adjusters.
Deductibles are determined by your insurance policy. Insurance companies determine fault based on the accident report. Any questions about deductibles can be answered by contacting your insurance company. Typically, with standard collision coverage, a deductible will have to be paid regardless of fault. However, with broad collision coverage, the deductible is often waived if you are not at fault.
If the deductible is not waived, you will be responsible for paying the shop when you pick up your vehicle.
This is a common occurrence and not a problem. Insurance companies understand that additional repairs may be necessary. We will work directly with the insurance company to get the additional costs approved.
No, the decision is up to you. You can obtain an estimate and take your car to any body shop for repairs. California law prohibits insurance companies from requiring you to get repairs at a specific shop.
